American Pancakes

A pancake is a flat batter cake cooked on a hot surface, and archaeological evidence suggests pancakes were probably eaten in prehistoric societies. In Scotland and North America a leavening agent such as baking powder gives a thick, fluffy pancake, unlike the thin English kind, and in North America pancakes are typically a breakfast food.
